Set sail towards the most captivating destinations of the Mediterranean aboard the Walkabout, a modern sailing yacht designed for ocean navigation, where performance, comfort, and safety blend seamlessly to offer you a unique experience.

The sailboat for ocean fast cruising

The Walkabout is a modern sailing yacht, designed to ensure safety and comfort even in the most challenging navigation conditions, including ocean crossings. It represents the first model of the Walkabout Yachts range, developed by naval architect David Reard and entirely built at the shipyard founded by Lorenzo Leonello and Annalisa de Cesare, leveraging the skills acquired during their round-the-world sailing journey.

The hull construction uses advanced composite materials, combining epoxy resins with fiberglass or carbon fabrics to achieve high structural strength and remarkable lightness. The fixed keel with a bulb concentrates nearly 50% of the vessel’s weight, allowing for a low center of gravity that ensures optimal performance and excellent stability even in challenging sea and wind conditions.

The sail plan is balanced and designed to deliver excellent handling both in light winds and during navigation with stronger gusts, while the twin rudders ensure precise control and optimal maneuverability on all points of sail. The steering system is equipped with an NKE autopilot, renowned for its reliability and responsiveness in the most complex situations.

The interiors are carefully designed to maximize habitability and functionality. The layout includes three double cabins and two bathrooms, as well as a spacious and comfortable dinette. The galley is designed for easy meal preparation, featuring a gimballed stove, an oven, and a top-loading refrigerator, providing practicality even while underway.

Technical and Construction Features: Fast and Planing Sailing Yacht

Design and Naval Architecture:

David Reard’s design stands out for the perfect balance between performance and comfort, offering a unique and rewarding sailing experience. Optimized for ocean navigation, the yacht features a composite hull that ensures lightness, strength, and resistance to marine stress. The hull is characterized by a very wide maximum beam. With 44% of the weight concentrated in the keel, it achieves an excellent righting moment, providing outstanding stability.

The Walkabout is renowned for its impressive speed, capable of planing rapidly with downwind conditions, resulting in not only faster transfers but also an incredibly fun and engaging sailing experience.

Hull and Deck:

The hull features a modern and wide design that, besides providing stability, offers great habitability both inside and in the cockpit. The planing hull is inspired by modern oceanic open yachts and is equipped with twin rudders to reduce hydrodynamic resistance and enhance sailing efficiency.
The deck is spacious and well-structured, allowing for safe movement even in rough sea conditions.

Mast and Sails:

The mast is made of aluminum to ensure rigidity and safety on all points of sail. Various headsails are available to adapt to wind intensity, including a gennaker with a furler, jib, genoa on a furling system, staysail on a furling system, and a mainsail with three reefing points.

Safety and Stability:

The Walkabout sailing yacht is equipped with a fixed keel with a bulb, concentrating nearly half of the vessel’s weight, which guarantees high stability even under challenging conditions. The twin rudders ensure exceptional maneuverability in all wind situations, making navigation smooth and precise.

The steering system is further enhanced by the NKE autopilot, known for its high precision and responsiveness, allowing optimal course control even in the most demanding situations.

Huge cockpit

The Walkabout features a well-designed cockpit that is exceptionally spacious thanks to the wide maximum beam, which narrows only slightly towards the stern.

This configuration ensures generous space both for those involved in maneuvers and for those who wish to relax comfortably in the shade, protected by the sprayhood and bimini.

The ample cockpit creates a convivial and welcoming environment, perfect for enjoying the sea in total comfort.

The stern of the Walkabout is open and equipped with a spacious integrated swim platform, covered in non-slip teak, offering an additional area dedicated to water activities with easy and direct access to the sea, thanks to an integrated telescopic ladder.

During navigation, the stern of the Walkabout can be fully enclosed by a foldable transom door, ensuring maximum safety on board and preventing the risk of falling overboard. This system, made from composite materials with carbon fiber reinforcement, is designed to seamlessly blend into the yacht’s design without compromising aesthetics or functionality.

When the vessel is moored in the marina, the transom door transforms into a practical gangway, providing a comfortable and safe passage from the dock to the deck.

This solution optimizes the use of the stern space, making every anchorage stop particularly pleasant and relaxing.

The sailboat interior

The Interiors

The interior layout of the Walkabout is designed to provide habitability and functionality both during navigation and while staying on board, without compromising elegance and practicality.

The yacht is equipped with three spacious and comfortable double cabins, each thoughtfully designed to offer privacy and convenience. Two bathrooms are also available, ensuring optimal comfort for extended stays.

The dinette is particularly large and livable, featuring a generously sized galley comparable to a domestic kitchen, equipped with everything needed to prepare delicious meals and enjoy convivial moments with guests.

The saloon is characterized by two comfortable sofas, which can be converted into two double berths, offering additional sleeping capacity when needed. In the center, a solid and functional table allows for dining below deck, making it a practical and inviting space for socializing and relaxation.

The Yacht Interiors: The Galley

The Walkabout galley is designed to ensure practicality and ease of use even during extended navigation. Its generous dimensions allow for the preparation of elaborate meals for multiple people, with well-organized spaces that facilitate every culinary operation.

It features a spacious top-loading refrigerator, which ensures excellent food preservation and easy access even in rough seas. The gimballed two-burner stove guarantees stability while cooking, while the integrated oven allows for the preparation of hot dishes and more complex meals.

The ergonomic L-shaped layout of the galley enables easy movement even while underway, thanks to strategically positioned handrails that provide safety and support.

The Interiors: The Forward Berth

The Forward Berth of the Walkabout

The forward berth of the Walkabout is well-organized and spacious, thanks to the generous beam of the yacht. Access is via an antechamber that allows even taller individuals to stand comfortably.

Brightness and ventilation are ensured by a large hatch located directly above the bed and an additional hatch, allowing for excellent air circulation and the entry of natural light.

The double bed, equipped with slatted bed bases, provides a comfortable rest, enhanced by memory foam pillows and a choice between blankets or a duvet, depending on seasonal needs.

The cabin is equipped with a vertical wardrobe and practical side lockers for conveniently storing clothes and personal items. Dedicated reading lights and USB charging ports are also available.

Additionally, the forward berth features its own private bathroom, providing greater privacy and convenience.

Aft Cabins of the Walkabout

Aft Cabins of the Walkabout

At the stern of the Walkabout are two spacious double cabins, both featuring an antechamber where it is comfortable to stand upright.

Natural lighting and ventilation are ensured by two side portholes. The double bed offers an unusually wide sleeping surface for a sailing yacht of this size, with generous space above the mattress to guarantee comfort and freedom of movement.

Each cabin is equipped with a vertical wardrobe positioned in the antechamber, along with practical side lockers next to the bed, ideal for storing clothes and personal belongings.

Dedicated reading lights and USB charging ports are also provided, ensuring convenience and practicality during your stay on board.

For enhanced comfort, memory foam pillows will be supplied, along with a choice of blankets or a duvet, depending on the season.

The Walkabout’s Dinette

The dinette of the Walkabout is equipped with two spacious sofas and a central table with folding leaves, allowing for increased available space when the table is not in use.

Beneath the sofa seats are large storage compartments, ideal for neatly and securely storing equipment and personal items. Above the sofas, side cabinets provide additional storage capacity, helping keep the interior organized and clutter-free.

Natural light and ventilation are ensured by four portholes along the coachroof and two overhead hatches, which not only brighten the space but also promote excellent air circulation.

The floor is finished with teak floorboards, adding a touch of elegance and a nautical style, while also providing durability and a non-slip surface.

The berths in the boat’s dinette

The dinette of the Walkabout is highly versatile and can be used in two configurations, depending on the number of people on board.

In its standard setup, it offers a convivial space with a sofa and table, perfect for relaxing and socializing.

When accommodating 7 or 8 people, the sofa backrest can be folded down, quickly transforming the dinette sofas into two large berths. This practical and simple solution provides additional sleeping spaces, making it easy to adapt the layout as needed.

This flexibility allows the dinette area to be adjusted according to the crew’s requirements, ensuring maximum comfort and optimal use of the interior spaces.

The dinette berths are particularly appreciated by those who prefer sleeping in a single bed rather than sharing a double. They offer excellent ventilation and ample space, ensuring a comfortable and pleasant rest, especially for those seeking greater independence during the night.
