We will leave not too late in the morning to make a beautiful sailing along the south coast of Attika, passing under the imposing temple of Poseidon at Sunion Cape. Then we will continue sailing towards Aegina, an island located in the middle of the Saronic Gulf, famous for being a great producer of pistachios and to house the famous 5th century BC Afaia temple. We moor in the port of Agia Marina and then with the bus we go to see the temple.
We will sail in the morning to reach Palaia Epidaurus. We moor in the marina and then in the afternoon we will visit the splendid theater of Epidaurus. It is the best preserved Greek theater and has acoustics that is difficult to tell. Suffice it to say that a coin dropped in the center of the stage feels perfectly seated in the stands above a hundred meters.
We will sail along the coast of Aegina, to the south where we will find a beautiful bay to stop for lunch. In the afternoon we move to Poros where we will spend the afternoon and evening, wandering through the narrow streets of the old town with a beautiful sunset seen from the lighthouse.
We leave Poros directed to a beautiful little bay sheltered by 3 small islands at the eastern tip of the Peloponnese, where we will stop for lunch. Then in the afternoon we move to the port of Ydra. In Ydra motor vehicles are not permitted so to move around you have to walk or with donkeys. Its main attraction consists of the beautiful houses of its inhabited center, built in 1800 when the island was home to a rich community of shipowners. Today it is the favorite destination of the Athenian intellectuals who bought many houses located in the upper part of the town.
An easy sailing will take us to the deep bay at the center of the island of Dhokos, where we will stop for lunch. Then in the afternoon we move to the main port of the island of Spetse, which derives its name from Spezie, given by the Venetians for which it was a fundamental stop along the route of spices. Today the main feature of the town is not to allow private car traffic, so either walking, or using horse-drawn carriages, or riding a bicycle. The atmosphere is very relaxed.
We circumnavigate the island of Spetse stopping for lunch in a remote bay on the south west coast. Then in the afternoon we move to Port Heli.
Breakfast and disembarkation.
