Sailing Authentic Greece in the North Aegean Lesbos-Chios

7-day Itinerary between Lesbos, Psara and Chios aboard the Walkabout 43

Navigate the Eastern Aegean with Walkabout Charter: 7 days of authentic sailing from Mytilene (Lesbos) to Chios crossing the remote island of Psara, deserted bays and crystal-clear waters. An itinerary that combines sporty sailing, millennia-old Greco-Byzantine culture and unique artisan traditions. Oceangoing vessel Walkabout 43, UNESCO heritage, medieval villages, Mediterranean cuisine prepared onboard by your skippers. This is a true authentic North Aegean sailing vacation between Lesbos and Chios.

Ideal for: Intermediate and advanced sailors seeking sporty sailing in the Eastern Aegean with a challenging crossing to Psara (40 miles). Perfect for Byzantine history and archaeology enthusiasts: Nea Moni monastery UNESCO World Heritage Site, medieval Mastichochoria villages. Lovers of unique artisan traditions (Chios mastic DOP world product). Those seeking remote islands like Psara (400 inhabitants) and uninhabited Antipsara. Food lovers wanting to discover local typical products. Medieval architecture photographers. Ideal for those who have already sailed in the Sporades or Cyclades and are looking for the easternmost Aegean, close to Turkey. Experienced or intermediate sailors | Couples | Groups of 4-8 friends | Greek-Byzantine culture enthusiasts | Wine enthusiasts | Not suitable for: Complete beginners, those seeking only beach life.

⚖️ Different from: Tourist Cyclades – this is the Eastern Aegean near Turkey, much less frequented. Different from Sporades – here you sail farther from the Greek mainland with a challenging crossing to Psara. Better than the Dodecanese for those who want to stay in the North Aegean but discover different islands. Alternative to Samos/Kos – Psara and Chios are less developed touristically. Different from Limnos-Lesbos – focus on Chios with its unique features (mastic, medieval villages, Nea Moni UNESCO) and open sea crossing to Psara. More cultural than purely beach itineraries – strong historical, artisanal and UNESCO component.

With the tender, we explore hidden marine caves accessible only from the sea – some with spectacular openings where sunlight enters creating magical color displays. Paradise for advanced snorkeling and underwater photography. Lunch and dinner on board. Overnight at anchor in total silence and solitude.

Last breakfast on board. Disembarkation procedures. Before transfer to the airport, unmissable excursion to Chios’s main sites (taxi/car rental):

Nea Moni Monastery (UNESCO): 15 km from the city, an 11th-century Byzantine monastery and world heritage site. Byzantine mosaics among the finest in Greece, unique architecture, intense spiritual atmosphere.

Mastic Villages (Mastichochoria): South of Chios, 24 fortified medieval villages where mastic trees are cultivated.
